Advance’s WAM provides a safe and caring environment
We All Matter (WAM) by Advance, an after-school program for K-12 students, has proven to be a safe and caring environment for many Western Boone students in the Jamestown community.
This‘It’s a place where kids can have fun and feel like they’re part of something special.
Ed Charlton, chairman of WAM’s board, says the kids in the program know they matter.
“We are a direct extension of Old Union Church in rural Jamestown, where my wife and I co-pastor, and are now four years old,” he says. “We meet on the completely renovated second floor of the Advance Municipal Building on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. a five-seat computer. center.”
The program has proven to be very popular.
Other fun activities included a Nacho Day, a WAM Fourth Anniversary Celebration and a Valentine’s Day‘s Party of the day with cards, pancakes, sausages, cupcakes and ice cream.
WAM leaders also held other fun celebrations during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. In the past, the children have also created recovery cards, sung karaoke, enjoyed pizza and delicious snacks, and helped each other with fun drawing and dancing activities.
WAM also helps many local children who need help.
“We see ourselves as important in reaching a community where children are often neglected, have few social opportunities and need extra care,” says Charlton. “We are open to all students in the Western Boone School District, K-12, as well as home-schooled students.
