Carmel Clay Schools recently selected Dr. Tim Phares as Principal of Carmel Secondary School (CHS) for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. Phares is currently Principal of Creekside Middle School. During his 22 years at Carmel Clay Schools, Phares was a kindergarten teacher at Orchard Park Elementary before serving as vice-principal at Prairie Trace Elementary, then principal at Orchard Park and Towne Meadow.

I spent all of my time here at Carmel Clay Schools for 22 years,” Phares says. “Thiss been a great place, and I feel like this opportunity was partly due to the connections I havethat we have built and time spent in many different buildings here within our community. »

In 2017, Phares received her doctorate in education from Ball State University. He quickly realized that he wanted to continue learning and growing in the field of education, which led him to want to move on to secondary education.

The school board officially approved Phares on April 25 and it will officially begin July 1. However, hes is already taking proactive steps to begin his new role.

II actually started spending a lot of time in high school getting to know people, building relationships, and learning,” Phares says. I already have a lot of established relationships there. II try to learn and listen from the team already in place there. When the school year is over, II will go directly to high school in June.

Transitioning from Creekside Middle School to CHS is a step Lighthouses is nott afraid to do. He knows that a school the size of the CHS is essential, but for him it all comes down to people and relationships.

It’s all on a grander scale because you’re talking about students preparing for post-graduate and beyond,” says Phares. ThisIt’s going to be different in this aspect, but the reality goes back to, we all want the best for our students. That’s one thing that makes Carmel great. This community is built around the value of education. WeWe are all here to provide opportunities for our students. We want them to have a successful life and make a successful contribution to our society.

Tim HeadlightsIn 2021, the Indiana Association of School Principals recognized Phares as the District 5 Middle School Principal of the Year for his professional achievements, qualifications, and leadership.

I have been blessed to be surrounded by great people at Carmel Clay Schools, not only in the administrative offices, but also in the classrooms,” says Phares. So I don’tI don’t really see it as an individual award, but rather as an award for the school and the community as a whole.

Phares is a longtime resident of Carmel whose four children attend Carmel Clay Schools. Heis excited about this new phase of his career and continuing the legacy of the CHS.
