Water resources hearing grants temporary rules

The state Department of Environmental Quality’s Water Resources Division is accepting comments until Dec. 2 and is scheduled to hold a public hearing Monday on adopting temporary rules for local government grants for control. of aquatic weeds, mitigation of damage from coastal storms and dredging of shallow-draft shipping channels. .

The proposed temporary rules come into effect in February 2023 and remain in place until permanent rules can be adopted.

The Aquatic Weed Fund, Shallow Draft Shipping Channel Dredging Fund, and Coastal Storm Damage Mitigation Fund are available from the state to local governments through an application process.

The public hearing on the temporary rules is set for 3:30 p.m. on Monday, November 14 in the Green Square Building 1210, 217 West Jones St. Raleigh. Those wishing to speak can register for the public hearing or pre-register online. To provide oral feedback virtually, registration is required by noon on November 14.
